a solution for you cheap and dirty dieselers....

i have tried a lot of different hand cleaning solutions, from goop to orange pumice to gasoline. I never could get everything on the first second sometimes fifth time cleaning my hands. you know how dirty the underside of a diesel MB gets after 25 years of tiny leaks. I was at the local picknpull and I usually carry my own orange pumice cleaner. The pnp had a bottle of blue stuff so I tried it. wow, worked great. I was so impressed I asked the guy if I could buy some. He said sure, go the the publix and get dawn dish soap, the heavy duty grease cutting kind, and cut it with water. So I bought a big bottle of it tonight. I poured all but about a 1/4 inch in the bottom into a spare jar and then refillied the bottle with water. Its super thin and doesnt seem like it should work after years of thick pastes and pumice, but I will tell you now its awesome. the bottle of dish soap by the time I cut it 100 times will probably last a year for $3.99 and does a better job than the $14 dollar pump bottle of orange ever did.

LOL! I thought everybody knew how good Dawn DW detergent is! It's tough on grease!

Heck my grandma started keeping a bottle of it on the sideboard of the bathroom sink 30-35 years ago for when us grease monkeys needed to clean up before a meal...

Worx works really well. It's a green powder, same stuff police use to remove fingerprint ink apparantly. I've had no issues with it. Used to use gojo but it's not that great.

I used to use Dawn in it's undiluted form. Sometimes it would burn my skin

i did know it cut grease but it never dawned on me to cut it very thin with water so it would rinse off easier and not be so harsh on the skin. any other pearls you guys have should be shared, never assume a good idea is universally known.

something more "green" and it cleans

Hey all you Grease Monkeys, listen up.

Find someone that is making biodiesel and ask them for de-methanol glycerine. Anyone need some? I have plenty to GIVE away.

And I'm also making glycerine soap. It works wonders!!!! And your wife (girlfriend) will thank you because glycerine soap actually helps your hands stay moisturized.

I would be up to trying the glycerin soap. can you explain how you get all of the bad things out of the glycerin in this process? i thought there were a lot of by products mixed in as well.

Also the foaming bubble stuff works great, and can be used where you have no water.
