|
Where's the AC drain and how do I clean it.
Got my AC working after a few years of no AC in the 85 TD. After driving across Nebraska and Iowa I have a puddle of water in the rear passenger footwell. I assume my AC drain is not working. Where is it and how do I clean it? I don't want to go swimming on my return trip to Denver.

Take off the passenger side knee panel. Reach waaay up front on the centerline of the car. You will find a short foam rubber hose which will probably crumble when you touch it. The foam hose was attached to a nipple on the bottom of the a/c duct, and drains out on top of the transmission. The easiest quick field fix is to fabricate a funnel out of a plastic water bottle.
Pull up the rear seat carpet and find the rubber plug to let the water out.

Thanks to everyone. That picture was worth a thousand words. Ended up taking off both kick panels to get enough light to see, then my wife held a tube or wire out of the way as I installed the cut off pop bottle top in position. Had a dry ride back to Denver.
