Has anybody used this for cleaning the evaporator?

BG Frigi-Clean, 4th from the bottom. My boss used this stuff on a customers car (at his other job) and claims it's some pretty good stuff.

From what I have been told, you drill a hole in your evaporator case, mount a fitting, then spray this foam into the box. It is supposed to break down the crap in the evap, then fall out of the drain.

Where would the access point be for this?

Rather than drill holes, why not pull the blower motor and spray into the evaporator from there?

How do you ensure that stuff that's loosened from the evaporator fins actually drains out? You might loosen stuff only to have it blow in your face when you turn on the AC. That'll clean the evaporator but you probably don't want to inhale that moldy gunk.

I agree with you there 100%, I was just looking for an alternative to tearing everything around it out. I saw that writeup, and I just don't think I have it in me...at least not until this winter, but I still really don't want to do it.

As far as drilling, the fitting you install is supposed to stay there permanently, and won't leak after it's use.

I used it 2 years ago in my W8 Passat. I was working at a Toyota/VW dealer and had my car washed there. The car wash used a reclamation system and the idiots had not cleaned/changed the water in who knows how long. The car came out smelling like dog $hit and that's no exaggeration. I replaced the pollen filter and ran the Friggie-Fresh thru the blower motor with success but then again, it was a 3 year old car with clear drains.....
