horn trouble! Voltage..

My horns refuse to hornk! I have voltage under the steering wheels cover. At the horn connection to the horn, it reads .3 when not depressed and 12 v when it the horn is activated! Yet no noise? Doesn't this need to happen the other way around? Circuit grounds on honking?

if you have 12 + volt to the horm when the button is pressed than you have a bad horn, problem solved.

you seem to have proper voltage, so the horn might be rusted up inside. On some horns, there is a small "factory set" adjustment screw on the outside that you can try turning while a "helper" activates the horn button. Got a lot of old Volkswagen horns honking again by making some minor adjustments. If that fails to work, a new horn should be installed.

Im not 100% sure but I don't think the other one will work if one is bad.

One will work if the other is bad, however, its entirely possible that you have two bad horns. Of our cars, my dad's SD needed a new high tone horn, I needed a new low tone horn (but I replaced both ) And the 300D needed both, they were completely rusted out/gone! I put a pair of stebel horns on the 300D...we had them laying around. No genuine MB honk, but they are quite loud!

I've been tempted to install one of those incredible hornblasters horns, but I know I'd probably end up arrested for disturbing the peace.... So I'll stick with the loud but unique MB horns.

I indeed had two broken horns, the compressor took the place of one horn but I will install a 126 horn on the other circuit!
