Brake booster question

I tried to undo the brake booster hose at the booster to get more room to work in my 300td but i heard a sound like gas escaping? i quickly clodsed it back up,di i let air into the master cylinder booster or anywhere? please help
what should i do.

NO you didn`t let air into the master cylinder.

It`s the black line you are talking about, right? It runs between the Booster and the vacuum pump on the front of the engine. It has vacuum
in it and that is what you heard when you cracked the line.
No damage done.

there were three HP ratings on the OM616...

1) Not much power
2) Even less power

Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast.

ok

Wow ive opened that same line in other cars befre but never heard that sound so loudly,i guess i have a lot of vacuum in there,maybe too much?
Could that explain my hard shifting into 2nd gear?

No, you don't have too mcuh vacuum, I'd check the amount of vacuum getting to the modulator though if you are having hard shifts and then adjust it if necessary.

how do i check the vacuum going to the modulator?
Can you post a pic of the modulator? i keep hearing about it but have no clue yet.
