3rd row seat

Since I have the crossbars ( thanks Chad300tdt ). I just got a chance
at a Palomino 3rd row for 200.00 bucks. I'm never going to need it, but
it seems to add value in case I ever want to sell the wagon. Really doubtful, but I might run across that perfect 1985 23,000 mile, owned and dealer serviced by young energetic new MB certified mechanics, by a little
old lady with a leadfoot, that drove up to church once a year on xmas, only to return to a climate controlled garage in Big Sur among the redwoods. Anyway does that third seat fold down into that narrow rubber storage space? Or is it something that you take out and store between uses? If I have to store it, I don't need it. If it only removes the 2" deep storage in the car when folded down I'll buy it,heh

fits in the space. get the headrests too if you want to increase the value. I personally would get the entire back seat.

Yes, it folds down into that shallow space. But you need to make sure you get all the hardware, there's some funky pieces that attach the seat to the rim of that space. Also, can you get the rear seats from that car also? That way you have the holes for the headrests (and the headrests).

oops...too slow

Cool hope it's still there

vstech thanks, I always read your posts. There are a few folks here that
brought me up to speed faster tahn any other vehicle I've messed with.
Chad300tdt probably had the most posts that addressed the things that
I needed to fix initially, however this WHOLE group has added so much to the experience of fixing up this TD. I've never been able to do things so fast before. I've done a few "frame-offs", in a time before the internet, that went very slowly. I did my truck in 99 (last project), just as I was finding out the value of on-line sources. I was NEVER going to do another car project!
Then my 500.00 Sable beater stopped passing the smog test after 4 years. I HATE the smog test, drove me.....back to my years old want for a TD.
AutoShopper...85 300TD 105,000 miles..3800.00. I'm in love again.
After doing a couple months work on this project, I'm actually glad I found
the car and this place and all you folks. Maybe I'm not done with cars after all. This has been a fun project. I now have a car though, that I care about. Might be good..or a burden. I'm already parking at the edge
of the lot,dammit

in my gallery, but of course

Take a look. It's been a long while since I've had "permanently" dirty hands, hehe. I work with mostly 100+ women. Many have commented of late,
"eeww, Mikey why are your hands so gross?" Erm, I've regressed to my
youth, you sweet young thing, how many times have I started YOUR
car in the parking lot? I haven't always had a nice clean computer job,.
One even said, your old black Mercedes looks like a HEARSE! At that moment, I KNEW I had to keep it forever!!

I do like the tinted windows, my computer job I am always worried somebody is going to smash out a window and take a computer or something because of the clear windows. I have never seen a hearse with wheels like that!
got any better angles of the car?

Better than the gallery?

I have about 20 pics in my gallery. Chad300tdtd added me as a friend. I was able then to see a few pics of his car. I haven't been trying to learn
the netiquitte of the forum, only trying to get my car going. I'll add you as
a friend, perhaps the gallery is only viewable that way. I have many pics that I've posted there, rather than taking immediate forum space.

I see it now.
very very nice!
I feel like dropping off my 83TD for you to go over... I can pay you with a 79TD... or a 78D... in MUCH worse shape than your "uhoh" rust shots...
kidding, of course, nobody should have to do the work needed to these cars without getting to own them!
let me know if you need anything!

Well, just don't sue me for ripping your animated gif. That SO illustrated
ME and computers, my wife said, yeah sure, you took that off a Mercedes
board. That's gross and you made it for yourself, you LOOK like that
everytime you can't do something you want in 2 seconds.

Michael,

I'm amazed that you found crossbars and a third row seat so fast. I had the opportunity to buy a third row seat with all the hardware, headrests, seat belts and the pillar covers for $500 but I had too many other things to fix before I could justify the expense. If you can get all that for $200 you found an incredible deal IMO.

Man ... I wish I lived closer to some wagon guys. Pizzachef isn't too far away, maybe there can be a GTG for PA guys sooner than later.

Seatbelts are an important part that are much harder to install than the seat. I would never allow somebody to ride without a seatbelt. Especially in the back, if you are rearended they will go straight through the hatch window.

I was hoping to get to one of the events, but haven't been able to make it. A closer one would be great.
Chad, I'm actually working in Philly for the next month, but I don't have the wagon with me...if I did I'd head right over!
