99 300 td intake manifold removal

I am try to remove the intake manifold. Got all bolts out as indicated.
The rascal will move aroud and wiggle but not come up. The pipe from charge air cooler bolt has been removed, the little pipe to rear, gas recirculating pipe has bolt removed. I cannot reach the pipe to slide it back.
The two vacum lines have been removed.
I am reluctant to yank hard bbut may be necessary. I am thinking the pipe on the recirculating vle is sticking some.

Any suggestions??
The intake ports look realy caked with oil residue. Not a good sign from an engine with 130k miles on it.

Can't help with the manifold as my '96 is NA -- you have a turbocharged engine with some differences. The caked ports are due to soot from the EGR valve mixing with oil from the crankcase breather. Mine were unbelievably bad after 248,000 miles. I posted pictures here. Then I defeated EGR and my engine now stays clean inside.

Defeating EGR on the '98-99 turbo 606 is harder than on the older NA engine but can be done, there are some threads on the subject here somewhere.

You got bolt #170 removed from bracket 152? It should pull loose.

Yes, bolt #170 has been removed.

Wow, that sure is some ugly pictures of the intake manifold. Mine are now where near that bad but bad enough.

Is the collar (#41) completely removed?

It can be a PITA.

It is off. It was the clamp. You have to fully open it and remove.

Tim,
The EGR valve doesn't have any electrical feed back. It is vacum operated. I am tempted to do the BB in the line.
KNow of any drawbacks???

Its more involved than just blocking the EGR. The vacuum transducer that controls vacuum to the egr is electrical and is monitored by the ECU.

The MAF detects the EGR action. You must fool the MAF if you want to delete the EGR.
