skip parking,Heeeelp!!!!!!

S o i just replaced the Neutral safety switch on my w123 1980 300td,i feel as if i have a bushing missing in where the linkage connects to the bolt that comes out from and thru the switch, its that plate with a pin at the end ,anyway my main problem now is that when i park i need to push the shifter hard onto park or else the car will slip out and keep on moving, can someone tell me what causes this?
Thanks

Adjust the attach point on the bar the shifter connects to under the car. Can be accessed when you take it out, or from the bottom if you get the car in the air.

A missing (or worn) shifter bushing will cause that condition.

Perhaps a visual inspection would be a good idea!!! Sometimes those bushings get brittle, then break and completely fall out.

Can't afford a service manual like the rest of us "loosers" on a budget?

Perhaps somebody adjusted the shifter linkage to compensate for the worn bushings, and when you replaced the bushings their adjustment is now way off.
Maybe?

When you remove the shifter and re-install it it may have shifted (no pun indended) and gotten out of "alignment". You can see the shifter stalk is curved and it needs to be at a certain angle to engage in all gears as well as park. I learned this while changing from the stock black shifter to a zebrawood one.
