Iam excited about the 5+ extra HP inside the combustion chamber, Dang, that would add up to 25 more HP:eek: :rolleyes: yeah right.

I would be in for a group buy, could be some old inventory somewhere laying around.

I cant believe the chrome doesnt burn off and into the atmposhphere.

Out of Production

I think Bosch never brought them to the US because:
1.Winmutt's idea?
2.The Germans never send us "The Really Good Stuff"
(Still Mad about WW's 1+2)
3.They discovered that the sales of "regular"glow plugs plummeted when the
Chromium were on offer.(PLUS they sold lots more of the regular plugs...
'burned out much quicker)

4.The Europeans I've talked to who use the Chromium plugs rave about them
...So there doesn't seem to have been any kind of "hidden" fault.

How can a GP ( it shuts off after about 30 seconds ) give any added power. Only thing it can do is help at start-up.

Naw it's just like platinum

Chromium is a catalyst:P. Just like those magnet things for gassers. Wow
and those hydrogen generators. Man they all come out of the woodwork
when money is involved. I dunno what the Chromium does but if it makes 'em last longer, I'd try a set:D.

I knew I had a GP out so I went to my local auto parts place. I looked the GP up in the Bosch book as per usual but they stopped stocking the normal ones and only have the Duraterm. So they are still around, a bit pricey with my price being close to 12 bucks.

Bajaman 03-10-2009 11:32 AM

If I read this right there is a difference between Duraterm, and Duraterm Chromium...

Could you not order direct from the UK Bosch site or ask them for a stockist?

Just did a quick ebay search and helptoday are selling Duraterms for Pugs but may have stock of others;

The regular Duraterms do not have a Chromium heating element. The Chromium Duraterms were only available in Europe and are no longer available even there it seems. The Duraterms are the only Bosch plugs available any more unless you are getting cheap knockoffs which are supposedly out there.

From their web site;

High technical standard combined with top quality.

Bosch meets the highest quality requirements with the new Duraterm Chromium. Every glow plug undergoes a 100% function check including X-ray test and glow test. The result is a premium quality product you can depend on.

The new chromium design.

With the new Duraterm Chromium, the external difference to a conventional glow plug are obvious from the first glance:
  • Gleaming chrome glow tube.
  • Blue insulation disc.
  • Silver-colored round nut.
