ticking sound near vacuum pump with engine off
There's a non-rhythmic ticking sound somewhere between my injection pump and vacuum pump right after I shut the car down which last 30 seconds to a minute depending on how hot the engine is. This is a 616 engine with only 20k on it, but I'm the second owner so I don't know if the vacuum pump was rebuilt.
Also, this is the pump with just one outlet on it. I have the other one with two outlets in my garage. Which one is better to rebuild? I think I read somewhere on the forum that the two outlet pump won't destroy your engine if it goes bad. Is it easy to swap out pumps, or is there a trick to lining it up with the timing chain? It's just the block cooling and contracting. Don't worry about it.
