190D Flywheel and Clutch sizes (diameters)
My latest Frankenbenz is using an '87 2.5Turbo engine coupled to an '84 190D 5-speed transmission, by way of the flywheel and clutch set which was original to the '84 car. It is getting close to time for a new clutch set.
Although I didn't measure the clutch diameter before assembling this setup, the documentation I can find for the '84 190D 2.2 clutch shows it as 200 mm. The later model diesel clutches ('86 and up) show a diameter of 215 mm. I would like to use the later model clutch and pressure plate setup for the 215 mm disk. This is available as a LUK repset 11-008. What I don't know is whether the later model setup will work with the '84 flywheel, due to the couterbore for the clutch disk and the bolt pattern for the flywheel. If I could confirm that the flywheel is the same P/N for an '84 190D 2.2 as an '86 190D 2.5 with manual trannies, I would be confident that the clutch sets would interchange. I haven't yet been able to figure out if the flywheels are the same. Any guidance or information would be appreciated. SteveM.

Someone with access to EPC can look up the part numbers for the flywheels by year/model and compare.
