AC bearing
Anyone ever replaced the AC clutch bearing in an 87 300 TDT? If so where would a guy find one?

A bearing supply house can usually get just about any bearing. If you can't find a part number, just take the bearing in and they can almost always match it.
Or: http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=EVP&MfrPartNumber=1963&PartType=450&PTSet=A Last edited by tangofox007; 07-22-2008 at 08:15 PM. |

Funny you should bring that up. Some suppliers say they can get the whole clutch pack and that's the way to go if you know for sure you have no freon leaks. I tore mine appart this afternoon to replace just the bearing as one parts store said they had a part nummber for just the bearing. Sure enough after getting it appart the bearing is pressed into the pully assembly and machine swedged in. I'll bet it's possible to replace but just go get a new one. I'm going for the whole compressor clutch, and all new belts. So $300 american the wife won't mind too much.... till she see's the bill
Side note: No warrantee on a compressor without the recent purchase of a dryer. They did not accept a brand new mercedes dryer with a receipt dated 7 29 1996. It was still in the box!! What can I say (Pack Rat?)

well partshop quoted $760 for the clutch pack so I am thinking waaaay to much. I am not sure the AC works anymore so that is why I would change the bearing alone. If you had a part number before I tore it apart that would be great as anyplace I could go to get a bearing is hours away.
