Lookit what I built this weekend...

The thing was poorly designed when I got it, and it had rotted plywood for a deck... I pulled the toung off and put it on the bottom, then ground flat all the surfaces then welded 1/8" steel plate accross the entire deck!
MAN it looks great...

now I gotta give it up, and get my tow vehicle! a 92 3/4 ton Chevy long bed truck with a 6.2 Diesel!!! finally I get to tow my MB's and VW's with a DIESEL!

well, I put about 500Lbs of sheet steel on it... and it's built from 3/8" 2x4 tube steel full length, and the toung too... it has 5 horizontal cross braces made from 3/8" 3" angle, and several additional braces all along the deck...
probably around 2000Lbs...

if you look carefully in the first pic, you can see the 80 TD, and a 90 Mercury sable wagon...
there are MANY more jewels in the yard...
outside of the pic.

Oh, Gee, I guess I forgot to post the reason for this post... DUH!

um, do you all think I should trade this trailer for a decent low miles chevy 3/4 ton 6.2 Diesel truck?
do you think I would get more for the trailer if I sold it?

If you trade it, what will you put the cars on? Do you have another trailer? That thing looks built enough to hold a Sherman TanK...

One sugesstion, Weld in a 'hump' near the front to help hold the front wheels of the car you are towing. Something like this ___/-|___/ Where the whells go in the trough and up against a plate welded across the front. Also are there holes for tie down straps?

oh, if I was going to use it, I would weld in several bent sections of rebar for tye downs... also I would put a solid stop accross the front.
I have a 24' 18KLB trailer with hydrolic surge brakes to use for hauling that makes this trailer look like a tinkertoy... thus the need for a 3/4 ton truck to tow it with...
just wondering if this is worth more than $1K? (that's all he is asking for the chevy... it drives well, starts well and STOPS ON A DIME!!! that's most important to me, because pulling my trailer with a load on it really taxes the suburban's brakes.

What's wrong with your Travelall? I had a 72 with a 345 for a while and it would pull two horses in a very heavy 50's vintage trailer. I'd keep the trailer and spend the dough getting the International set up properly.

the starter is siezed... it smokes very very badly, and over all needs a complete rebuild... thinking of putting a 617.951 in there... the top of the truck is a thick rust, and there are a pair of tiny rust spots in other places, but over all, the travelall is in amazing shape.
wanna buy it?
