you'll have to change the motor mount arms and the oil filter housing though if your getting it from a sd

Plan is to tow the donor, pull what's needed and fab required supports if the engine looks good. Thanks for the tip.
Anyone ever transplant a 617 into a 240D by not shifting the tranny back and replacing the viscous coupled fan w/ an electric? |

No, that would be a major pain in the A$$ and require much more custom fabrication, such as motor mount arms. Even then I'm not sure it would work.

If you just swapped the SD's motor and trans into the 240 you'll have a 300D. MB did it, doubt they changed that much.
