Got my 115 300D!!!!

Youpeee!

I finally got my 115 300D!!!!! It's a 1976 one owner vehicule with 61000 miles, with documentation since day one, including original bill of sale, maintenance etc...

I did something crazy, I bought it without seeing in person although I spoke with owner for about 2 hours on the phone and had him send me pictures and documentation etc.. But it turned out great, the car is fabulous. The original owner was obssessive about his car, he never drove it in the winter and always kept it in his garage. It was not his only car. He sold it because he's 70 and doesn't need 2 cars anymore.

There are still a few issues to sort out (like dash lights) but so far so good!

Anyway finding a 115 300D in such condition was very difficult, and I looked at many before buying this one. Special thanks to my friend Pierre Hedary who guided me through the process and told me what questions to ask!

here are some pics

Not bad looking. 115 isn't my favorite but you got a nice looking example.

Thanks!

Actually I talked to Pierre on the phone many many times during the past month, trying to locate some nice 300Ds. This particular car is from the Montreal region, about 800 km (500 miles) from my place, and I discussed it over the phone with Pierre before making an offer (which was refused). I called the owner a month later with a better offer and he accepted.

As I said the previous owner was a fanatic, even had a small electrical heater inside the car during storage so the vinyl wouldn't crack. He almost never parked it outside and wouldn't drive it if it looked like it was going to rain.

The type of guy you want to buy a car from!

Simply a beautiful car, in almost unattainable condition! Especially up there above the 48......
Enjoy!

Very, very, very nice. It's amazing how many great old survivors the people in this forum find. I don't think anyone is overpaying either. Nice find! Congrats.

I paid quite a bit for it, more than market value but I wanted a real nice one, with a nice color combo. I'm sure I couldn't sell it for what I paid for it, but then again I dont intend to sell it and in the long run it's cheaper to pay more for a car in better condition than to buy cheap and pay a fortune in repairs.

On another note the previous owner left me the original bill of sale and I was surprised to see he paid $14500 in June 1976 for that car. And the only option was right side mirror! Quite expensive for 1976!!! But I think MBs were always more expensive in Canada.

Great find! If you're happy with it (and you should be), then you did not pay too much.
