A new look - 123.133
Before:
![]() After: ![]() Next up, redo the grille... but dark gray this time. I have a new plastic ready, but even if it has an MB part number on it, it really looks weird. The fins aren't straight, but taper upwards as it nears the mid-line chrome strip. Plus, the center strip is not as distinct as the original one, and makes it "flat nosed" ![]() So I'll use my old grille for now and just strip the paint... ![]() Need to wait on the 15" Bundts, gotta save up for their restoration and a new set of tires ![]() I don't post new threads as much but I thought this upgrade deserved one. I know many of you already have Euro lights on yours so please welcome me to the club

I must apologize up front, but give me the before. FAR more W123 personality.
Fyi, you can't loose either way as your cars is awesome, just stating a preference......

If these were different cars on the auction block, I would buy the before car in a second. I love the classic look of the round headlamps with that beautiful cream-yellow color.
Not too crazy about the new "after" modern-esque look. Almost looks like a Nissan with a Mercedes badge...sorry, but that's just my personal opinion.

My Euro "85"240D has the original Euro headlights which I like the look of much better than the US ones. You can see round ones every day

It looks very nice, but I would not paint the grill like that simply because of chipping and so forth.
I much prefer the looks of the euro lights. Very clean 240(?) in my favorite color! Tom W

I painted my grill about a year ago with engine paint, haven't had even a chip yet.
I like the euro headlights...only because I can put different bulbs in there. I would like to get a set whenever I stumble upon them. I want a real set though, I am worried about the ebay set out there because of the possibility of melting with strong bulbs.

I personally, like the old setup on the yellow car. On the brown one pictured the euros look good. On the grill, I like the dark gray better. Both look good though. Tom |

I put Euros on mine because my doors were shot. Your headlight doors look very nice as does the rest of the car. Now that I have them on, the increased light output is tremendous, and I won't be going back.

I like the "before" look better. I've just never been a fan of square/rectangular headlights. I do love the blacked out grille though.

I'm for the before look. It's got to be classic for me.

Thanks gents!
After installing the Euro lights I realized these Euros had more personality, with them looking more like eyes rather than the US lights that are always "eyes wide open". If it's any consolation I kept the original lights, because I keep all original items I've replaced/upgraded...and I'm not selling them ![]() Is there a preference for 15" Bundts - ATS or Centra? The ones I got were Centra but I do know there are other brands (just like some companies back in the day made 14" Intra/Ronal/Fuchs "replicas" of the Bundts). If I paint the grille dark gray I should also paint the inside of the Euro light frames dark gray too, to match. Kinda gives it this look but with a dark gray color, instead of black: ![]() And yes I need to clean the Euro light lenses, the insides are dirty. Or get new ones instead.

Before
I guess it's just a matter of taste. It's your car, and if you like the euro lights better - that's great. |
