Replacing Door Panel on 87' sedan.
Did this on my '85 so many times, but on the '87 I can't seem to get the panel off of the Right Rear door. Looks like the plastic backing/liner around the interior control (the handle you use to open the door from the inside) is clipped to the door liner/panel and prevents me from taking the panel off....but I can't seem to figure out how to get that plastic backing/liner off.
Hopefully someone can tell me? Then once I have the plactic backing off, the panel should pop off in an upward direction I belive, based on the type of clips on my replacement. Thanks -harv |

This is one of those jobs that is easy to show but hard to describe in words. The plastic backing piece must come off first. You have to remove the metal pull rod where it hooks into the inside door handle. It has a plastic clip that holds the rod to the handle. Once the rod is loose, you can slide the plastic backing piece forward (it hooks into the metal of the door) and take it out.
I assume you have already removed the 10mm nut on the hand grip. The ashtray also needs to come out, along with the puddle light on the bottom of the door and the trim piece near the latch mechanism (1 screw). Jeremy

OK, that makes sense.
Yes, I already removed the other pieces....this was the only puzzler. Thanks -harv |
