Interior Wood Trim Adhesive?

I have to re-glue a piece of interior wood trim in my wagon. Is there any special glue that I should be using, or does it not really matter?

Probably doesn't matter. You could use contact cement, double-sticky tape, etc.

I've had good luck with a 5-minute, 2-part epoxy. The 5-minute window gives you plenty of time to get the wood piece in just the right place and the epoxy holds well.

gorilla glue does work but use VERY VERY LITTLE of it. that stuff expands and can be very unsightly!

When the wood panel with pull on my ash tray (81 300SD) came off, I used plain old rubber cement. No problem since and I can pull the ash tray open without pulling off the wood panel.

I just used some polyrethane glue and it seemed to work pretty good. I have also used double sided tape and it doesn't work very well.

I would use Weldwood contact cement on the climate control panel assembly! You will likely need to get the wood piece off to service this sometime and it's not hard to do with contact cement. It will hold well.

I love West System's, I'd use their 5 minute epoxy. Or if I was in the shop some 205/105 since it's on tap.

I used the 3M yellow and it not only worked good, it allowed me to later remove one piece. Many good suggestions to chose from.

silicone works well and wont fall off (epoxies crack due to thermal expansion). Ive also used 3M contact spray adhesive for wood trim and also the hood pad. Silicone is the best for wood trim though, IMO

I've tried double-sided foam tape - worthless! Even on clean surfaces it falls off once the interior heats up.
Otherwise, I think that prepping the surfaces is as important as the type of adhesive.
Having to painstakingly scrape off the gummy remains of the old glue from the wood and metal backing (I'm reluctant to try solvents and risk damaging wood finish or dash plastic) has deterred me from refastening some loose wood on my 240D.
Or if someone can suggest an adhesive that will combine with the old glue for a reliable repair.

Happy Motoring, Mark

Goo-off and/or rubbing alcohol seem to get the foam glue they used off easily. Those won't damage anything
