Center Muffler Needed?
124 1987 300TD.
I have an exhaust leak in the first pipe behind the engine. Good news and bad news. Good news - There must have been blockage as the car now has the power and pickup that it should. 0-60 in about 10 seconds! Bad news - I guess I have to start replacing the exhaust system. $$$$$ Do I need the center muffler (about $155)? Can I run a straight pipe (bent to fit) to the rear muffler $about $150 also)?

the turbo does alot of the muffling, I deleted the resonator (center muffler) and replaced it w/ a straight pipe. I also replaced the stock muffler w/ a hi flow stainless unit, Its a bit 'throatier', but not at all obnoxious.
Very happy w/ the results and I prolly shaved 25lbs (stock muffler is heavier than you think.)
