W123 Trailer Hitch

I got tired of the class one hitch that I had on my 240D and decided to make a much stronger one.

I used all 1/4in steel and it fits up nicely under the bumper and should be as strong if not stronger then the euro type hitches.

I'm going to have a mechanical engineer friend put some numbers too it so I can see what I could tow with it if needed.

Have a look and excuse the paint, it started out black then I ran out so I coated it in red... looks like **** but all the welds are good and you can't really see it anyways.

that does look nice (would look nicer if it was black) and do not forget to post the # of lbs that it can hold.

If it connects to a 240D then I don't think it matters what the hitch will hold!
As stated, pull that thing back off and paint it black. It looks good....

That hitch is just what I have been looking for. Thank you for posting the pictures of the hitch installation. I plan to build one similar to yours. Well done!

I'll try and get some measurements and build instruction up at some point after I have it modeled and the stress analysis done.
