W123 Trailer Hitch
I got tired of the class one hitch that I had on my 240D and decided to make a much stronger one.
I used all 1/4in steel and it fits up nicely under the bumper and should be as strong if not stronger then the euro type hitches. I'm going to have a mechanical engineer friend put some numbers too it so I can see what I could tow with it if needed. Have a look and excuse the paint, it started out black then I ran out so I coated it in red... looks like **** but all the welds are good and you can't really see it anyways. http://picasaweb.google.com/GWCullen/240DTrailerHitch

that does look nice (would look nicer if it was black) and do not forget to post the # of lbs that it can hold.

If it connects to a 240D then I don't think it matters what the hitch will hold!
As stated, pull that thing back off and paint it black. It looks good....

That hitch is just what I have been looking for. Thank you for posting the pictures of the hitch installation. I plan to build one similar to yours. Well done!

I'll try and get some measurements and build instruction up at some point after I have it modeled and the stress analysis done.
