Battery voltage?

Wondering how to check see if my ground and postive cables are doing the job. I searched found so many posts and conflicting info any solid ideas?

Test

1.Clean tight connections.
2.Measure the resistance of each cable, point to point, while connected...
there is a formula to figure out the resistance loss base on length and diameter.
3.Get really crazy and "Meg" them out (Disconnected form vehicle).
