Original W123 Center Console ?
 

I'm wondering if someone with an original, never-out-of-the-car center console in a W123 can tell me about a detail.

I'm wondering if the side of the console are in any way "tucked" into the carpet on the left and right sides. Is it tucked in or does the vinyl sit completely outside the carpet?

I noticed there's the tiniest little lip around the edge of the vinyl that may or may not have been originally visible.

Picture #35 shows the clips that hold the carpet to the console. Your clip has either released of the assembly has broken.

I'm installing a different center console, so the clips have definitely released. So can I clip the L&R carpet sides back in just by sliding in the new center console and clipping it on?
