My project is complete. Everything now works as it should except....
when moving very slowly my speedo needle bounces a little. Once
past 5mph it stops the shakes. I was going to lube it, but forums say NO.
Who among you would feed the obsession and pay a hundred plus a bucks
to not see that little shakey needle for a split second:rolleyes:? Mechanically
I have everything as perfect as I see it. I could do a bit better cosmetically, but if I do that, I will not have a useful car, hehe.
I replaced that 4 Seasons damn noisy compressor (rebuilt). They gave me
another that is fine so far. That was the last thing on the list, 'cept that
little needle bounce. Geez I suppose I could do a final detail.:D

My odo needle does the same exact thing. Started bouncing last month for the first time. I'd probably care more if, say, my tach worked...

Check the cable path and make sure its straight as possible with smooth, wide angle curves.

Any tight bends will stress the cable and make it jerk at slow speeds.

I've seen that on cars in the past and I lubed it. But what I did was remove the end from the transmission, and the end from the speedo. Then sprayed some silicone lube in at the speedo end and turned the square piece in the middle. Sprayed a little more and turned more. I did this a few times then kept spinning the middle piece until the lube came out on the other end. I kept spinning it until it wasn't dripping out any more. Then put it all back together and it worked like a charm.
