99 W210 E300 Aux fan not working.

Hello everyone just got the aux fan and i'm trying to replace the motor not the assembly it self, any advice on how to do this job? it seems that there's not a lot of room to play with, do you have to undo the a/c lines and horn? any advice would be apreciated, thanks

The horn must be disconnected, but not the AC lines. Use the search. There are a number of threads which cover the R&R of the fan assembly. Also a wiki article.

no joy with new aux fan....

Thanks you very much for the ilustration, it made things much easier. however, I still facing the same problem as I did before, It could be 100 Degrees outside, and the fan wount spool up the a/c blows cold but the aux fan most of the time wount even turn, and if it does one can stop the aux fan with ones hand. I sure that's not normal.

when i'm stuck in traffic the refrigerant pressure would go up to 17 -18 from 10-8 while crusing in the highway. sensor # 20 some times will show up to 20 amps while in a stop light but even showing the power consuption the fan would harly even turn. any suggestions will be welcome thanks.

some error codes from the a/c control unit EB 1234, EB1459, EB FF,
NOT SURE ON 1459 AND FF.

Hold both AUTO buttons down on the ACC with the engine running.. You will need to hold them for 10 seconds, or until you hear the AUX fans kick in. THis will confirm that its getting full power.

That fan motor that you installed is the OE or OEM, right?

The fans should kick in at ~95C with the AC on.

You should have the N65/1 fan control module in that car. If so, it is located behind the left headlamp.

N65/1 gets its signal from N10/1 (CCM/SAM) which gets the demand signal from N22 (the pushbutton unit). Thus the problem could lie in any of these modules. I would suspect N65/1 first, since it is controlling the fan motor and must handle high current levels.

There are eight different systems in place for controlling the electric fan, depending on the year and the engine. Some of these systems differ very little, some differ a lot. What this means is that you can't take parts of another car with verifying that it will actually work in yours. New parts will probably need version coding.
