Winshield Chrome Help!
Just had a winshield replaced on my 300d and am trying to get the chrome surronds back on... Whats the best way to do this. I am using a new gasket if that makes any difference other than it being REALLY tight. Thanks guys!

That chrome (aluminum) strip is supposed to go into the gasket before pulling the window into the car. I don't think you'll be able to get it in there with the windshield and gasket already in the car. That strip is called a "lock strip" because it helps lock the windshield in properly.

when I has my glass replaced last spring, the tech removed the aluminum trim, then the glass- left the rubber in the car- then put in glass and the lock strip. he used a small rubber mallet.
maybe silicon lube or lanolin would be helpful with the new gasket. is it aftermarket, or does it have the three pointed star on it? I did the glass in my stepvan, w/ a plastic lock strip. they sell a tool for that, helps immensely. different situation, however.
