Which motor mounts for OM602 into W124?

I'm going to build a bit of a "Frankenbenz" for a friend of mine. He's got an '86 300E (W124) with a bad engine. I've got a wrecked '87 190D 2.5Turbo. We intend to put the turbo OM602 into the 300E to make sort of a clone of a later model 300D 2.5Turbo.

I'm hoping that someone can shed light on the correct motor mounts to use for this application/swap. Are the '87 190D 2.5Turbo motor mounts (the aluminum parts that bolt to the block) the same as the ones used in the 300D 2.5Turbos?

I know that the whole swap is "do-able" using all MB parts, but I'm not 100% sure that I have envisioned all of the roadblocks yet.

Has anyone on the board done this particular swap, and if so, do you have any advice?

SteveM.

Yes - same aluminium mounts. Use new 124 rubber mounts. Should be fairly straightforward. Take and transfer the wiring harness out of the donor diesel car. Also the ignition switch. Remove the fuel pumps and replace with fuel injection hose. Break off the restrictor in the fuel filler.

Thanks for the information.

Thanks for the info. on the aluminum motor mount arms and the rubber mounts.

I have done a similar swap from gasser to diesel on a W201. In that case, I swapped almost the entire wiring harness from front bumper to rear. I don't want to go through that much work again.

Do you have any idea how much of the wiring harness needs to be swapped? I'm hoping that I can get by only changing the "under hood" wiring, without having to cross into the passenger compartment.
