Diesel leak.
The gas gauge in my 1984 300D doesn't work, the odometer rarely works (it has its moments) so it's sometimes tough to tell how much gas is in there. A couple of days ago, I felt the car running out of gas. I stopped it before it was completely out, got a gallon of gas, drove it to the gas station and put in $50.
Since that day, it has developed an interesting diesel leak-- it's leaking OUT of the gas trap. The area around the filler is soaked in diesel, as is the side of the car. It also leaks out the little hole they've got in there. Here's the thing: it only leaks when I make a sharp left turn (i.e. a u turn), and goddamn does it leak, it leaves a trail of diesel on the street. If I make a sharp right turn, if I don't turn at all, etc, it doesn't leak. What's going on? I would assume it's related to me almost running out of gas? Or perhaps the gas cap needs to be replaced? The rubber boot around the filler isn't torn, cracked or otherwise worn, cap is on tight. |

Make a hard right turn, stop the car, get out, look under the car and see where the leak is coming from.
From your inquiry it seems that you are running both gas and Diesel in the car. Maybe that has something to do with the leak. |

Like I specified above, the diesel is coming from the filler neck area.
I interchanged the words "gas" and "diesel"-- it's only running diesel. |

the leaking fuel has happened to me before but no because of almost running out of fuel. It only happened once though and has no stopped doing that.
