delayed engine stop: what's the cause
Recently, I often have strange engine stop.
After I turn the key to stop the engine, the engine continues to run for a couple of seconds and then goes off. What causes this? The car is 1992 300D.

If your brakes feel fine at the time of shut down, then it's most likely your shut of valve on the IP. Follow the brown line to the device on the top of the IP. Try using a mityvac (if you don't have one, get one...they're valuable tools for these cars) to pull a vacuum on the shut off valve with the engine running. If it won't hold a vacuum for long and takes more than a couple pumps to shut down the engine, it needs to be replaced. If it shuts down quickly within a couple pumps, start looking elsewhere along the brown line.

Thank you for your replies.
The mechanic adjusted shut off valve: checked vacuum supply, adjusted vacuum supply at brake booster line. Now the engine shut off is normal.
