Eureka! Coolant bypass hose...
 
...finally got it today. I will be entering the dark abyss under my hood tomorrow morning to try and get my water leak under control. The hose only cost me $25 - can't WAIT to drive my car again. :)

That is an incredibly easy job. Two bolts, two hose clamps, ten minutes.
