300d Drainage

Hello all. I have a 1982 300d turbo which I have been parking at my girlfriend's apartment (not in my garage). After a good rain, I see a lot of water draining from a drain under the driver's door. The interior carpet does not get wet.

I park on a slight incline (facing downhill) and the water does not leak until I am level. I have started parking the other way around but it has not rained since.

Any ideas on tracking this down?

Thanks.

It could be the water getting in between the rubber seal on the door and the body of the car and working its way down onto rocker panel

I've forgotten where the channel to that drain leads, but I'd say don't worry about it. If water is coming out of that drain and nothing inside is getting wet, sounds like nothing's wrong and everything is operating as intended.

I bet the water is getting into the door via the little rubber tube that goes from the door to the door frame and encloses the electric and vacuum systems.

Get your wallet out when you go to buy them. I got 2 for my 115/300d at $55 each. The old ones can not be fixed. New ones are not that difficult to install. You have to remove the door liner and the electrics, etc.

Sunroof

I do have a sunroof. As far as I can tell, no leaks, but I'll check drains. What were you thinking jt20?

The W123 front doors have 3 drains at the rear bottom of the door and 1 at the front corner. The front is probably plugged w/crud and the rear 3 are OK. This would explain lack of draining when facing downhill. Just use a paper clip to clean out the front drain.
