81 300d exaust patch?
i just purchased a 1981 300d from a friend for 300 dollars. He had it sitting in his yard in PA for several years. The car starts and runs perfect, needs valve adjustment, new filters, and tranny gasket. I do body work and was able to fix minor frame rot and replace the floor boards. My question is that when i dropped the car off my lift , the exaust system fell off.
The pipe seemed to fall off right from where the header pipe meets the first muffler, which i am assuming is the resinator?. anyways the rest of the pipe is in good shape and im assuming that it is just from sitting the pipe rotted at the bracket. is there a way to patch the pipe here.... like a weld? or just clamp a pipe over it for a temporary fix? I am a college student and i am on a tight budget for fixing this car. Also i found 3 300d's at a local junk yard...is it worth taking the exaust off of that? |

The Turbo Diesel exhaust is not the same as the none turbo. so if the 3 in your local JY are none turbo like your 81 is, then this would be the way to go. all depend how rusty the parts are to remove.
If your car is that rusty the exhaust fell off, probably not much to weld to. Charlie
