Hey everyone Iv been doing a lot of research on valve adjustments on my 85 300sd. It has been at least 100K that i havent done a valve adjustment since i bought the car and lately its been smokin a whole lot.

Im located in Los Angeles (in SFV near that deadly train collision) and wanted to see if locals here would mind making some $$$ if they adjusted my valves. If not, do the members here who go to MR MB Motors know what he charges? I live in an apartment and dont have the necessary tools to do this properly. I cant take the risk of messing something up and being stuck without a car.

Any help is appreciated!

Last I knew Mr MB (Enrique) charged $80.00 an Hour. However if it doesn't take an hour he only charges for the time spent, not a flat rate, charge by what the book says, shop.

Figure the valve adjustment time and at least a new Valve cover Gasket.

I think taking it to Mr. MB would be worth the time, effort and the money. Maybe pool it with something else you need done by an Indy.

An understatement - no one close to you does it better, or is more fair. My car needs a visit to Enrique, he hasn't seen it in a couple of years, he did my last valve adjust in, I don't know, 2005? I have a very decent local shop (in Utah) do fluid changes et. al., but I drive to SoCal to have Enrique do as much as possible.

You're not the guy in Utah that flatbeds his car to Enrique are You?? I have heard of that one. and a few others that travel as long ways to Enrique. I travel about 50 miles(65 now that I just moved).

I traveled from near Reno to have him work on my car and even with the hotel and gasoline bills, it was absolutely worth it.

Enrique is a master with the older Mercedes like yours.

He even told me his philosophy is not to cheat customers, by not performing any work that is not needed.

He has worked on Mercedes since 1961. Totally qualified, capable and competent as far as I am concerned
