Replacing a 300SD engine with a 300D

Basic story is my 300SD engine died in Phoenix, I need to get it an engine, found a very nicely priced engine for $150, but it's a 300D.

Both are the same years; 1982

Thanks

Short answer - yes you can use it. Long answer - you will need to replace the rear differential if you don't want an utter dog off the line. 88hp vs 125hp. Would be better to find the proper motor.

Actually, they are basically the same motor if your talking about they are 1982 turbo 617.95x. The things that are different but can be swapped over is the motor mount arms, the oil filter housing and some other very minor.

Same horsepower and don't need a diff change because they both have the same 3.07 gearing between the two US spec models.

should be no problem. are you doing the work? if you KNOW the D motor is in great shape. order a set of gaskets, and swap over the model specific parts and enjoy your new ride.
