Replaced started cable now Battery light comes on, no start.

Well The battery cable to the starter was pretty corroded and I had to go to the auto part store anyhow (Oil Change). So I picked up a nice thick red cable. Got home Started draining the oil and while that was taking place I disconnected the positive cable. And Started studying how to remove the old cable. Took the old cable and the junction box wire off of the starter but, before this happened I arced the positive wire. Well I thought no big deal. Everything is back together (Including the wire that goes to the transistor looking thing which leads to the glowplug relay. And this jury rigged wire from the PO that I'm guessing takes the place of the OVP relay cause there is no OVP relay) When I went to start it I saw the battery light come on andthought it was nothing then I went to start it and only got a click. Jiggled the Shifter And still just a click. However, with the battery light on the radio worked lights worked and headlights were nice and bright. Oh and windows workedtoo. So if somebody could tell me what the problem is that'd be great cause I'm at my wits end.

The battery light should come on, all the warning lights should come on when the car isn't running.
I think your spark was a red herring but be careful with stuff like this...
Headlights on, turn to start, do the headlights dim?
At a guess I'd say you have dirty connections. Clean both ends and try again.
I had trouble with dirty connections when I replaced the battery on my 190D in the parking lot at the bank where it stranded my wife. I put in the new battery but it took some scraping with my pocket knife to get connections good enough to start the car.

nope unless if its a dirty connection on my starter. (cleaned the connections when I bought the new cable till they were bright and shiny.) The NSS I read would cause a click. I'm in the process of taking the starter off to have it tested. But with this much effort involved I'm so ticked off that I might just buy a 100$ starter to keep from having to replace this monstrosity in the future. Ok Its not a monstorsity but, The way to take it off is. BTW, Where are all the ground cables on this car? Does anybody know?

there should be a braided copper cable on one of the starter bolts IIRC

make note.. when working on the car or the electrical system of said car always DISCONNECT THE BATTERY ... for obvious reasons

Oh my, I can't believe I was that silly. As I was looking at the starter I had placed the junction box wire in front of the batt. wire. AND it wasn't tight. All this paint and suffering for nothing. MMKay.

*Thread End* (unless you want to congratulate me on a job well done.)
