What's it worth opinions? 350sdl
1990 350sdl with a 300sdl engine (professionally installed), rebuilt trans all within 50k miles, a/c shot( evap core), no rust but also very oxidized paint.
4 new tires, new brakes, new ball joints, new alternator, belt and tensioner pulley, new battery, southern car. reliable enough for a cross country trip. I don't trust those websites that tell you how much your car is worth. I want a street value. Can you guys give me an idea? Ballpark will work.

2-3k for a good rust free driver driver is what I would pay for a SDL, a bit higher than normal for the new drive train (if the engine is new).

There is a '91 similar to yours in the paper here for ~$5500.

The replaced engine being non-original model (3.0L) would probably hurt the value for most people, just because they don't understand, but in all I'd be happy with the car for $4k, another thousand for a nice paint job and you have an excellent driver (if the mechanical was done right). Is there documentation on the engine/driveline work? From a reputable shop?
I don't know about '90, but in '91 ASD and SLS were available, IMO both handy on the SDL.

I see w123 240d's and 300d's in similar condition going for between $3-5k, so I think you could ask at least that, given the luxury and creature comforts of the SDL, and all the little things that the new owner will not have to worry about for a long time.
Also, I would explain that you have replaced the old engine with a more reliable, less prone to failure one. Don't make a big deal of the fact that it is a smaller engine.
