Well...
Since "Junior"(85 300TD) is running so perfectly now, and I have only a couple things to do to wife's SD, I was driving to work in the dark this morning and noticed the fan high/low/auto switches were dark, although
every other choice was lighted. I don't want to take the dash apart of course to fix something that may be normal. So at night are your white auto/high/low buttons lighted? Do I have an "occupation" tomorrow.

Sounds like a failed bulb. Pretty easy fix.

the ccu takes 4 or 5 of them lil' tiny bulbs- 1.2watt, I believe. there is on on the fan swityches, one on the wheel, and then 2? on the push buttons.
but if your worried about the bulbs in the ccu, your OCD may be getting you

Easy Peasy
I replaced that bulb a minute ago. Actually just went ahead and replaced
them all. The sockets were a bit heat deformed and the one on the wheel had the holder ears snapped off, so I put a little drop of glue on the holder. Did the job in about 10 minutes. 2.45 for the bulbs.
