Noise from shift lever on 99 E300
 

I'm getting a vibration/noise from the shift lever in my 99 E300., I noticed it last night, and it starts at around 1800 rpm, and stops at 2000 rpm, has anyone experience this before, how difficult is it to fix? I hope is nothing major thanks.

Probably the shifter bushing connecting the shifter to the linkage; is up in the trans tunnel. Mines green.

Yep, had this same problem... It's one of those rare, cheap, easy to fix problems. All I used was a flat bladed screwdriver to pop the clip off and work it into place from under the car.

Mine does the same thing...mostly notice it in left turns and you can feel it in the shifter if you put your hand on it. I have the bushing here on my desk waiting until the weather is nice enough to climb under it and will probably do a tranny service at the same time...cost for the bushing from the dealer was something like $2.

We just took care of the same exact issue with our '99....

It is also easily accessible from the inside by removing the center console...

You guys that replaced yours, was the bushing still there or gone all together? Mine was totally gone... One other nice thing is that replacing the bushing will take most of the fore/aft slop out of the shifter.
