TIRES PLUS!!! Unbelievable what I found today... is this really possible?

This is so unbelievably stupid it deserves another thread on its own.

Here's the thread that documented yesterdays experience at Tire's Plus

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=234103

In summary they let the resident idiot do a checkup on my car and top off my fluids free of charge (WITHOUT ASKING ME PERMISSION)

When I did notice what they were doing, I instructed them to stop, which they must of done in a hurry... The resident idiot who while trying to resolve my tire issues told me he topped off the oil, which didn't amuse me to much.

So, today I get an urge to pop the hood and check things out and here is what I found.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I used the gas cap as a temporary measure to get me to TIRES PLUS and confront these morons.

Luckily, the oil wasn't low enough to be off the dipstick, and the drive gave me time to vent my murderous rage and collect myself for the confrontation.

At first, they told me there was no way they topped off anything because I only bought tires. They only top off fluids for oil change customers.

I informed them that the resident idiot told me he topped it off, and THE PROOF IS UNDER MY %*$&#$* HOOD!

They clearly topped off my washer fluid when because I purposely leave in half full because of a crack on the top of the reservoir.

The manager offered to give me a free oil change, which I refused, because I wanted it done somewhere else. He agreed, and also agreed to pay for an engine bay detail.

Meanwhile, my tires issues have yet to be resolved!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Because you're a young'un they will try and bow you off. Get a lawer, also stick an audio recorder in your pocket. Who knows what else these "professionals" "tuned" while you were in the waiting area.

My father pulled up with me in his 996 Turbo convertible and full business attire to help things along.

After reading your threads, I wouldn't go back to that place, not even to complain.

Stay FAR FAR away. Being there can only mean more potential damage to your car!

Time for a new hood pad.

How many times has your engine bay been coated in oil this year? Best remedy is to let me have your car. I'll ensure that it doesn't get into the hands of tire shop idiots any longer.

Isn't it up to two?

Seriously.. lawyer up

then send the car to the classic center to be restored on Tire Plus's dime.

Sorry about the bad luck, that really sucks.

Let see pics of this "free engine detail". BTW, where did you get that "gas" cap?

Wonder what kind of ol they put in it, I bet it wasn't diesel oil.

I'm not really in the MOOD to deal with "time for a new hood pad" and "gas cap" snarky comments right now... I've been fighting that damn hoodpad since the first oil incident and I'M GOING TO SAY gas cap because its one less letter to type than FUEL. OK?:D

*edit*
I put the smiley face on there because I'm kidding

Hopefully nothing happened to the engine, except it having to need another cleaning. Did the oil pressure gauge show erratic readings?

Hatterasguy 09-30-2008 08:03 PM

Stop wasting your time with these morons. Get a new cap on there, gunk the engine down, and have a better tire shop balance the tires. Someone with a Hunter's GSP9700 road force balancer.

If its a crappy balance, $40-$60 and you never have to see them again. If the tires are out of round than go back. If you bark a bit you might get the balance at the other shop covered.

Its not worth wasting time and effort on morons. Lawyer up, over what a $60 balance, come on. You will learn that its not worth spending a great deal of effort on morons, because nothing you are able to do will change a thing.

Your mistake was taking a MB to a shop that does Toyota's and Chevy's. People that have those cars are just happy to have tread on the tires. Lesson learned, I learned a similer leason, for the price of two front brake rotors, and a balance. Cheaper than school...

Dude this is beyond ridiculous. have them cut you a check for your time and wasted energy having to deal with this and take it to someone competent and deserving of breathing oxygen.

JimmyL 09-30-2008 08:32 PM

Knowing your basic "ship-shape" persona, what a kick to the crotch this whole episode has been. I know how put out you are, and you will get no "Snarky" from me today. Just heart-felt Superhero sympathy.
You do need to get them to purchase a new hood pad for you. It really must be oil fouled by now.
All the "lawyer up" crap is just that as far as getting more that what they really should do. {sorry Don}
You can't trust your oil now, no telling what grade/viscosity they put in. You need your engine bay detailed, and not just a half arse job. You need an oil cap and probably a valve cover gasket as it creeps down into the "up facing" seem lip.
What amazing Nimrodetry they have going on at that place. :furious3:
You need the calming effects of some post parade "Wagon Boy service" from your parade buddy. Maybe a dirty diesel engine does something for her......
