Hi all, im new to the forum.
ok, im not the best with cars apart from knowing how to rebuild pushrod engines ![]() anyway im having problems with my w210 e300 diesel [non turbo]. the problem has been going on for over a year now, the symtoms are -
so i replaced the fuel filter and all related rubber washers on the fuel filter housing. now this seemed to sort it out and has been running as sweet as a nut since then. but the air bubbles are back!! ive changed the fuel filter and housing washers again but this time it hasnt sorted the problem and the air bubbles are still there. im sure the bubbles are the problem!? but im unsure of where else to look besides fuel lines ![]() |

My '96 E300 (non-turbo) did the same thing! It ultimately turned-out to be a defective wiring harness, and after much expense, was unrelated to fuel delivery or injector return line leakage as several MB techs had me believe!

Yours must be a 96, not a 95. If its a 95 W124 with the 606.910 engine disregard the below comments.
Fix the fuel leak first. Get new fuel lines, prefilter (and oring) and shut off valve (SOV) oring. That ought to help the hard starts in the morning and probably the rough idle. Cutting out while driving is usually the SOV, its oring or the K40 relay sending the electrical signal. I'd replace the relay first if it still does this after repairing all fuel leaks and confirming its bubble free.

also i forgot to add -
at the smae time the car started running ruff the "battery charge" display on the dash would light up! ive charged the battery and it is still doing this. a while back, i had a diagnostic check carried out[this was before i cured it the 1st time round] ive since lost the details ![]() ![]() i desregarded the diagnostic check as i cured it myself after, but the same problem obviously come back. so regarding your replies - i cannot see a fuel leak! ive had the car idling for a while with no visible signs of leakage. before i attempt to replace anything does any possibly have an engine bay diagram of where common parts are located? i cant stress enough how little i know about modern engines ![]() also a blown up diagram of the fuel system? this would make it alot easier for me to suss out. sorry if this is abit much to ask. this car is driving me nuts ![]() |
