Is their a spring or some type of mechanical method that returns the accelerator linkage to idle?? this linkage is sticking and must be returned to the normal idle position by hand... things were working fine until some of the linkage was disconnected so that the valves could be adjusted... when the loose linkages were reinstalled this problem surfaced... Any help will be appreciated... Jim

yes there is. its on the back side of the injection pump, youll probably need a flashlight to see it. if its still connected, the linkage was put together wrong and its binding

I JUST asked about this, check out my thread:
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=234388 It was in a 240D, but it is probably very similar. I just went to the hardware store and found a similar spring. I don't think it really matters as long as it pulls the linkages back and fits where it belongs. My spring was probably made of something like 1/32" wire and was about 2" long (un-stretched). Not very big or heavy duty. As turbobenz said, if you find that the spring is still there, then it is something with the linkages being put together wrong, though it is possible you broke or knocked off the old spring when you disconnected the linkages.
