timing chain adjustment

how do you actually adjust the chain on the cam? i have my sprocket lined up perfectly with the mark on the bearing tower and i am about 3 degrees retarded. how would i go about adjusting the chain?

Offset Woodruff key in the cam sprocket.

3 degrees of stretch should not be causing any extreme problems. My stretch is approximately 2 degrees retarded.
As ForcedInduction said to restore the Camshaft Timing they have an offset Woodruff Keys that replaces the regular straight Woodruff Key on the gear end of the Cam Shaft.
However you have to have at least 4 degrees of stretch (check your manual to be sure) as they do not make any Keys for smaller degrees of stretch than 4 degrees (at least not for my OM617.952 engine).
So the short answer is that you or I cannot adjust the Chain right now.
