Gas falls-diesel stays

I have notice that gasoline over here is 2.69 and diesel is 3.72!!! What's the deal, gas price goes down $0.10 per day and diesel just sits at $3.72... I wish diesel was at $2.99 I would be VERY happy...

Unhappy Worldwide Demand

Diesel is in more demand worldwide. I am on your side, but people in other countries have more Diesel vehicles than we do.

2.69 really, you sure it isn't 3.69?

I just paid 3.77 for premuim. I saw diesel for 3.87 today.

It's not even worldwide demand. The US demand is highly inflexible. People are still shipping things by truck and rail, both of which consume diesel fuel but not gasoline.

When the price of gasoline goes up, people conserve. When the price of diesel fuel goes up, shipping costs go up, but people don't tend to conserve as much.

Diesel has fallen about 40-50 cents around here in the past month or so. Down to about 3.92 at the lowest, 3.95 to 3.99 at most places.

3.72? I wish I paid that. I paid about 4.15 at the shell, but chevron ACROSS THE STREET is 4.89. Yet another reason why california sucks.

The cheapest ULSD in the Houston area is $3.62/gal. Though B100 biodiesel is available in Houston for $3.49/gal.

Hating it.

Diesel is about $3.80 over here. And for some reason B100 is still $5.39!

$3.04 in the valley - for name brand premium. Regular is $2.84. For whatever reason it tends to lead price moves over the Houston area. So wait a week or two - it should get there. At least you aren't in Louisiana. I was paying close to $3.90 some place for premium.

Diesel is coming down but slower. The best I've seen locally was around $3.50. Most were around $3.70.

Remember also that diesel = home heating fuel. I just bought 160 gallons of heating oil at $3.79/gal. Diesel is $3.99 today. Both have been falling steadily for a few months. Diesel hangs a lot longer than gas though, where gas goes down a couple cents every couple days diesel holds at a price and then drops ten or twenty cents at a go.

The stations got the shaft as prices went up, they tried to hold prices down and not pass on the increases to the customer. Now that prices are going down they're going down slowly so the stations can make up for profit they lost during the rise. Gasoline stocks are high in the US right now we should expect this trend for a few months anyway.

Central Florida Diesel is about $.50 cents more than unleaded. 10/7 it was $3.89. As long as its less than 1/3 as expensive as unleaded I'm good. 20MPG for the Explorer. 30MPG for the Mercedes.

Im in california and diesel is 3.80 something near sacramento. I do feel that once the elections are over the price of fuel will go up. Mark my words.....my reasoning for this is that during an election year the oil companies do not want to be a debate topic. so when fuel starts going down at the pump people such as the ones in this thread get excited and forget about the high price of fuel. Give it two months from today and I would be willing to make a bet that fuel in general will be way over 4 dollars a gallon. thats my two cents worth.
