Jack stowage in trunk
Hi all, this is my first post in the Diesel forum; I will post details of the '79 240D I just bought soon, when I have pics and finish going through everything!
But in the meantime, this is bugging me: I filled up the spare tire with air and wanted to put the original jack back where it belongs. There is a bracket type thing that seems to "clamp" to the jack to hold it still in the trunk, but I had a heck of a time getting it on the jack. I gave up and let the jack sit loose. Same with the lug wrench. Can anyone tell me how the jack and lug wrench fit? The picture in the manual doesn't have enough detail. A "real life" picture would be even better! Thanks! |

Sometimes you must "jack' the jack up or down so it will fit in the holder, the lug wrench belongs in the red tool bag.

Ah, my tool bag is missing. No surprise there. Thanks for the jack tip... I will keep futzing with it!

it has to be cranked to the top. Then the tube lies over and touches a pad on the back of the tire well. then the main vertical tube of the jack will slip under the clampy thing.
