87 300DT lock questions
Still here and learning about the MB world. This 124 body has had the trunk lock cylinder removed and lost. I see some locks and key sets on ebay for gas versions of the 124 body, with new keysets, Are these interchangeable? Am I looking for the lock tumbler section, or is ther another whole assembly I need here? The manuals seem to dance around what I am looking for. The only key the kid who sold this had, is the black no-red-dot key.

The red dot was on the original square-head key, the valet key had an oval head. If you have a square-head key with no dot, it is a replacement key, Mercedes stopped putting the dots on them.
I think I have a spare trunk lock/latch mechanism, but you would probably be better off buying one keyed to your car (by VIN).
