87 300TD Torque Converter???

Hi I''m installing a re-manufactured AT in my 87 300td. The question is should I also replace the Torque Converter with a new one?

The car has 229,000 miles and I spoke with a ex-MB mechanic and he states the Torque Converters rarely go bad. Hmmm well it''s a decision i wanted to run by this forum. The Transmission is being replaced do to a leaky front seal and a big pause between shifter and engagement. Either way it drives with plenty of power.

Please let me know your opinions.....

Thanks and Regards

Yes, the old TC will have lots of wear metal left inside from the old transmission.
