Looks like a driving award of some kind (on the german car badge site below, they have awards for safe driving, mileage, etc.) - my German is pretty rough (none), so I can't really tell what the Berlin they're talking about here: http://www.adac.de/

That's a great badge, it represents the Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club, the best "AAA" in Europe and that badge is the 80 year commemoration of their business, they were founded in 1903 and they have more then 18,000,000 members in europe.

Thanks.
It is a thin adhesive backed badge that I think was intended to stick to the inside of the trunk. I found it stuck to the bottom of the battery (which is located in the trunk on the SL)
