what was the original selling price for 123's?

So when these 123's were brand new, what did they sell for at a dealer? I tired to find a website with original prices.
I am curiuous for example, what my 1980 300D cost brand new in '79/'80 and what that translates to todays dollars.

As to the translation into today's dollars, you have two things to do. One is the simple conversion based on inflation. According to this site, a $32,000 car in 1980 would cost $79,546.72 in 2007 (the latest date in that site).

Then there's the fact that in 1980, Mercedes cars were much more hand-built than they are today. Even though there was still a lot of automation in use in 1980, the "cost no object" philosophy was still there. Even with no inflation, a 1980 car would cost more to build today.

I'm wondering what my coupe would cost in 1980. It has most options like the side mirror, and leather seating. How much would that cost in 1980/2008 dollars? I imagine it would cost more than the S-class of that year.

My 240D stickered at a bit over $11,000 in 1977. My 300D was about $32,000 in 1983. (Thanks for the inflation Mr. Carter.)

In 1971, my 250 was only a $7,000 car. Of course, you could have bought a pair of Hemicudas for that price at the time.

Call the Classic Center and ask them to send you a copy of your original window sticker.

1982 300D was $31,562.20
1983 500SL AMG was $53,771.67 (hell of a deal for that car)

I bought Elvira right off the showroom floor at Stephenson Motors in Dallas in the fall of 1984 and the window sticker, which I still have, was $36,663. That was fullly loaded, she came with everything, including a very rare factory alarm system.

The inflation rate was 19% in 1979 by 1983 it was 3.4% Also the early eighties recession was over by 1984 and a economic boom lasted for about 9 years. So I think he probably knew a little more than you think Zeke. I thank God for Reagan because he revived America from the Carter years. I wish we had another Reagan and the Benz autos made during his time Also my wagon I bought this summer from the original owner cost about 35k new.

Back in the early seventies my grandfather owned a 300sel 6.3 liter which he bought because the salesman said it would go 140mph. While making conversation about the car an acquaintance of his asked if had paid around $4000.00 for the car. My grandfather replied 'you couldn't buy the headlights for four thousand dollars'. Unfortunately that car was always in the shop with transmission problems and it soured the rest of my family on Mercedes Benz cars for some years.

Not familiar with this. Is there a web site or 800 number available?
