Stumped on the W123 - no dash lights

1985 300D everything functional after rebuild but dash lights, ACC lights, window lights. Fuse in fuse box OK, Just cannot figure what is going on, must all be related. I don't know where else to look, I have grounds in tact, just no power, fuse , as tested is good. What am I missing

The dash rheostat. Its a common failure, search it.

Best thing to do it remove it completly and solder a wire across the two remaining pins.

I have traced power to the dash panel, none beyond that. Just how does one get to the rehostat. I have removed under dash panel , can put my hand on it but , what next?

You'll need to take the cluster out, if you can get your hand on it now, just push it out from behind.

Once you have the cluster out, you'll need to remove two Philips head screws and carefully lever the rheostat off of its pins. It is a tight fit and feels like something will break – the second time is easier 'cause you know it comes off but that doesn't help the first time.

I cracked the board on mine when removing the cluster. 3 or 4 of the lines were messed up, so I cut some wires to length and soldered them across the broken lines. No problems since.

Obviously, if yours are burnt, make sure you figure out why before you hook it back up.
