Lost Compression/No accel

Hi there. I've been having an issue lately, and I'm wondering if anyone might have some ideas of the issue.

I'll be driving along fine for 20 or 30 miles and then... I just start slowing down. Even if I put the petal to the floor I continue to slow down. I'll stop, restart, and try to go... I'll get about 20 MPH and it's like driving with the brakes on, it goes until the engine finally dies. Slowing down little by little. I've seen the compression drop. It normally sits all the way up on 45, but sometimes it will drop to 30ish. Not sure if this is related, or if it's maybe the torque converter or something along those lines. I lost reverse in the car months ago, so I know the transmission already has some issues.

Thoughts? Thanks all.

See if it happens if you drive with the fuel filler cap off.

I believe he is referring to oil pressure. If the fuel filters dont do it, check if any of the wheels are extremely hot.

?? "My Maserati goes 185, I lost my license, now I don't drive"?

The artist's name escapes me at the moment.

I once bought a very nice stick shift 240D that had a blown engine. The lady got home and told her husband "I think the car needs a quart of oil, the gauge is down to ONE". Hubby says "OH CRAP" and hops in the car to pick up some oil, bad idea It, of course, didn't make it.

Yes... off the live album with the Eagles... but he wrote it

Lyrics

Life's Been Good
(J. Walsh)

I have a mansion forget the price
Ain't never been there they tell me it's nice
I live in hotels tear out the walls
I have accountants pay for it all

They say I'm crazy but I have a good time
(Everybody say oh, yeah.....OH,YEAH)
I'm just looking for clues at the scene of the crime
Life's been good to me so far

My Maserati does 185
I lost my license now I don't drive
I have a limo ride in the back
I lock the doors in case I'm attacked

I'm making records my fans they can't wait
They write me letters tell me I'm great
So I got me an office gold records on the wall
Just leave a message maybe I'll call

Lucky I'm sane after all I've been through
Everybody says I'm cool (He's cool)
I can't complain but sometimes I still do
Life's been good to me so far

I go to parties sometimes until four
It's hard to leave when you can't find the door
It's tough to handle this fortune and fame
Everybody's so different I haven't changed

They say I'm lazy but it takes all my time
Everybody says Oh yeah (Oh yeah)
I keep on going guess I'll never know why
Life's been good to me so far

Yea, I've got an old Joe Walsh casette around here somewhere, from a quarter-century or so ago.
