1999 E300TD sitting around for two weeks
I have a 1999 E300TD that is currently having all four doors replaced due to vandalism. It has been in the shop for one week and we expect to get it back either this Friday (the 21st)or next Monday. Is there anything special I should do to the car when I get it back? I've read about algae build up and other problems with diesel fuel sitting around. I also read a great thread on Red Line 85. Should I throw some in? Thanks.

I don't think that 2 weeks is long enough to worry about algae. You should be able to hop right in and drive.
Other threads talk about Redline. It sure seemd to help my '87. --Craig |

I platoon my cars and it's not uncommon for one to sit for a month or more. There's nothing to worry about. The algae problem is not too common and would probably be no more likely to happen to a car that's not running than a car that is. I would probably be more worried about the kind of thing that can happen to a car just by being inside of a shop. Check it out well when you get it back.
Good luck, |

Okay, two weeks isn't going to hurt a 99 E300! My father lets his stand for weeks and she's fine with it for the most part... My 85 300 was in the shop for 5 weeks in cold Delaware October/November. When I got her out, boy did she smoke! Like Uncle Buck's Mercury LTD! I wouldn't worry about it. The 99 300 is so new and refined, its practically a gas car with better milage! She'll be fine, enjoy the car!
